Audie Murphy , American hero

Audie Murphy goes “To Hell and Back””

audieAudie Murphy was a popular star of western movies in the fifties and sixties and one of my favorites , as a lover of westerns.
Audie Murphy was also the most decorated American soldier in World War Two , and the recipient of America’s hightest military award , The Congressional Medal of Honor.
He told his story in his book ” To Hell and Back” , which was made into the movie of the same name in which he starred as himself , and which I consider to be one of the best WWII movies.
I found an audio version of his book, and apart for its historical value , it is a great story ; Murphy was a great storyteller , no wonder he became a successful actor after the war.

I find audio books an easy, convenient way to enjoy good books ( without straining the eyes   , and a great distraction from the events and news of the day.

For those interested , you will find many good audio-books of different genres on YouTube , and I highly recommend this one for lovers of action and adventure , and especially for fans of Audie Murphy, a true American hero.

Murphy died in a plane crash in Virginia in 1971 , shortly before his 46th birthday. He was interred with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
